Working with aerial work platforms requires experience and expertise. Workplace accidents can often be prevented if operators are properly trained.
With our IPAF training for aerial work platform operators, your employees will learn how to operate aerial work platforms safely and efficiently. The training provides practical instruction on all key safety guidelines, operating techniques, and legal requirements. IPAF Training for Aerial Work Platform Operators
Although there is not yet an official aerial work platform operator’s license, there are clear rules and regulations that are binding for employers and operators. In accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (Sections 7 and 12) and the Industrial Safety Ordinance, as well as the corresponding Technical Rules for Industrial Safety (TRBS 2111), every aerial work platform operator must demonstrate their competence.
We are a licensed IPAF training center. You can earn the international PAL (Powered Access License) certification through us.
The IPAF training program complies with the procedures set forth in the standard “ISO 18878:2004 Mobile Elevating Work Platforms—Operator Training (Operators).” To date, it is the only training program that has been reviewed and approved by TÜV, a recognized German certification authority. It complies with the new German Social Accident Insurance Association (DGUV) Guideline DGUV 308-008 (formerly BGG 966).
Our certified IPAF instructors train participants on all regulations governing the safe operation of aerial work platforms. Potential hazards and appropriate responses to malfunctions of the aerial work platform are clearly explained in both theory and practice, as are occupational safety and health requirements.
The one-day IPAF training course is divided into:
- Theoretical training (approx. 4 hours)
- written final exam
- Hands-on training (approx. 2–3 hours, depending on the machine type)
- Practical Final Exam
Upon successful completion of the training and exam, a PAL Card will be issued as proof of qualification, along with a certificate. Please review the information regardingdigital licenses in the IPAF ePAL app.

Typical Daily Schedule for an IPAF Operator Training Course
For training sessions held at our facility, participants receive full meals. We serve breakfast and lunch, as well as hot and cold beverages. To maintain the quality standards of our IPAF training courses, we recommend a maximum of 8 participants per day.

Depending on their needs, operators of aerial work platforms can receive training in the following IPAF training categories. Training for all categories can be completed in one day. We would be happy to advise you on your selection.
IPAF Training Categories
- (1a) Vertical passenger elevators (not accessible from above)
- (1b) Truck-mounted, trailer-mounted, and spider-type aerial work platforms
- (3a) Scissor lifts and telescopic boom lifts (operated from above)
- (3b) Self-propelled articulating and telescopic platforms
Language of instruction:
The course is conducted in German by default, so a good command of spoken and written German is required. For groups of 6 participants, we also offer the training in Polish. Alternatively, for this group size, you can hire an interpreter to provide simultaneous interpretation into the language of your choice. It is important that the interpreter is familiar with translating specialized and technical terms used in the aerial work platform industry. Questionnaires for the theoretical exam are available in many languages. The interpreter may not be a participant in the course at the same time. The internationally recognized IPAF license is valid for 5 years and can be renewed. You have 3 options for doing so:
- Participation inthe IPAF Refresher Course
- Participation in an IPAF Operator Training Course Once Again
- Annual e-learning safety training + hands-on component at our facility

Training at our training center
With this option, your employees will come to our training center and receive both theoretical and practical instruction from our instructor.
